The ShopaholicFeed Network

We are so very pleased to announce the ShopaholicFeed Network. ShopaholicFeed was launched in the wee hours this morning. Its to help promote all bloggers and the community of SL. If its a SL related blog, it will be found here.

ShopaholicFeed has been in the works since my blog became its own DotCom just a few short months ago. It was time to bring back the basic principle of blogging: the sense of community.

We encourage anyone with a blog to join our fast growing network. Store owners to the smaller and newest bloggers are welcomed to join! An SL related blogger is encouraged to sign up.  Its not just fashion – its for all bloggers!  When you sign up, you will be asked to what feed you would like to be seen on (fashion or community).  All we ask is that you follow the TOS and enjoy being apart of the newest blogging network!

I’ve decided to revamp my skin review for this post. I have had these skins for some time and they deserve to a post. I have either worn them in prior posts or even out on the grid. *Review* Virus Company & Ricochet

Virus Company & Ricochet is owned by Kisten Bailey.  She has a sharp eye for detail and all things grungy, earthy, gritty and slightly twisted.  I was totally amazed with what I found at VC.  It ranges from hair to clothing and poses to skin.

What I showed here is only a small sampling of her work. Its not the typical expected finds.  Take the denim. Yes its in a fat pack and sold separately. What I didn’t fully expect is the options – with or with the added pockets, open or closed pockets, rolled or straight cuffs (for the long pants). The cool thing is you can mix those option up to fit your style – make it your own!

The long tube tops are classics. Tons of vibrant color with a muted feel.  All come in a jacket layer and in two styles – standard and torn. I’m digging the hint of belly.

The skin is such a hidden gem. Ricochet is connected to VC just to the right of the entrance.  Several collections are available. This one is called Brooklyn.  Brooklyn has something like 30 makeups – something for everyone! Its gritty and earthy and a few sweet makeups. I used some of the more dramatic grunge looks in the clothing pic. Here’s one of the more “mainstream” makeups called “Sullen”:

If you are in the market for new eyes, stop by to see what this store offers.  There are over 40 to choose. Its great to see the unique colors that range from not-so-natural to natural.  Many colors are not what you typically would see but would totally enjoy.

By now, you’re thinking I am going to tell you the episode I told you in the last post! Well, I am sorry! I did half ot the challenge from Luna, but I couldn’t finish yet! I will, maybe soon, who knows? Right now, I am tired and sad, and you will soon find out why!

I haven been working lika maniac in real life, which doesn’t give me much time to spend in second life. Now, when I can be on second life, I am not sure what to do anymore… I’ve been wanting to do this post about my umbrellas (shameless self promotion, totally allowed by the blog owner) and about its textures, because I have never show any picture with it! So I’ve been sewing them in my studio (This freakin’ awesome sewing machine -RC- The Loft – m.fox Swinger Sewing Machine made me want to say I was sewing LoL) All collours and textures shown in pictures, both open and close options! You can find the umbrella for only 100L$, near the posepack of poses made specifically for the umbrella! You will have to adjust it probably, and it comes it retexture and recolour script, really easy to use! For bigger pictures, check my flickr! For more info on the poses, check my blog!

The outfit is something I like to put on now and then! I love this vest from MG Fashion! No matter how many times it was blogged, or how long it was released, or even how many posts I’ve done with it! I just love it and it looks awesome with my Colby shorts! The hair is one of my favourites from Truth and being a rainy day, what a better excuse to use this hair with hat? Oh and this boots?!?! 50L$ in the sale at Pixel Mode! Boots are really cute!!! I am loving it! It’s not a Spring look, it is more of an Autumn look, but it suits my mood perfectly! Not happy, not mad, just a little bit sad and apathetic!

While writing this post I am listening to the song that finally made me do this post. Long time I didn’t hear it, and I am happy I did!

Just My Luck

For the last few days I have been deleting cleaning out my inventory. I realized I have a ton of just “stuff” that never gets to be blogged or even worn. Of course before giving away or just flat out removing from inventory, I would try it on to make sure I”m not passing out beta tested items or, well, crap.

As I flipped through, I wouldn’t take things off on as I tried on the next item. Literally this outfit evolved. Pink pants and an aqua corset is completely my luck. I loved it instantly but something was lacking. I tried everything from hats to mini jackets to layered shirts. Then I found red items and the entire look just fit together.

*Review* Insolence & Dark Mouse

Nothing makes a girl feel more like a girlie-girl than jewelry and lingerie.  INOSOLENCE and Dark Mouse both had beautiful releases this weekend.  Here are just a sampling from both of their collections:

INSOLENCE released Emily Tulle which is a base white full-seated panty, demi style bra and corset set. The only hints of color is on the flowers and trim – 6 colors to choose.  Created on all the layers except the jacket layer.  The best element other than being completely adorable is that the layers are sheer until you add in the other layers. Less the layers, the more sheer the look. Kinda nice for lingerie! (shown: Emily Green Set by INSOLENCE, Emily Pink Set by INSOLENCE, Emily Lavander Set by INSOLENCE)

Dark Mouse released Black and White Drama set. Its looks like grey/white and black pearls paired with floral embellishments.  The items are sold separately. Since I have entire set, its bracelets (for the left and right wrists), a necklace (chest and spine attachment points), earrings, and a cocktail ring. I’ve been looking for a bold but yet classic set like this for some time.

Laundry Day Favorites

Rummaging through my inventory and it occurs to me I’m so glad there is no laundry in SL. If there were, what would I wear on those laundry days? Casual, of course.

I didn’t just want “casual” I wanted something with interest. Since I’m on this hair buying kick, its all about my new hair -  not just the typical buns. I even like the doodad-things in the hair with the flowers.

Adding alittle something extra is key here to help balance this hair with the look.  The mini jacket was prefect.  A ton of pieces and elements.  Check out the back of it, there is a embossed detailing.  BareRose so knows how to pack in all these little things into their already cheap clothing! To help “support” such a cute jacket jeans and tees would do just fine.  Not just any jeans and tees tho.  They have to have just as high level detailing as the jacket.  I went for my favorite from Dutch Touch for the jeans. They are just the best I have seen in a long time and the perfect denim color for me too.  The tee is the other great find from Primitve Design. Several different colors available but the deep purple was the way to go here.

I left the other detailing at a minimum.  Again, its to be casual look without the flair.  I added two of my favs from Nait Smith’s ring collection.  Simple, easy and the rings go with anything!  Gotta love that in a jewelry purchase.

The shoes were a bloggers appreciation gift from Duh! (I love that store name!!) I don’t think I have seen clogs in a long time.  Tons of colors, black is my tried and true so I added them.

I have to mention the skin.  I stopped everything I was doing to put on this skin. I honestly found my “every day” skin.  I don’t think its been release just yet … but keep your eyes open for new coming from Dutch Touch. Its been so fun to wear this skin for the week. The other makeups are so yummy. One of my favorite Dutch Touch lines!

As a side note about the bloggers appreciation week, its been such a great experience.  So many wonderful gifts, notes and chats. A huge thank you goes to the Miss CaLlie cLine and all the those behind the scenes that help launch this event.  All the designers have been so incredibly generous. I can’t thank them enough of spoiling us so much! <3

Boho Twist

Express took me shopping, he picked it all out … and I finished the look.  Our shopping adventure started with the hair. I debated on it for some time, its more wild than I typically wear but the blonde is my perfect color. That’s when he said something about doing a boho chic like look with the hair … and hence the idea of him dressing me.  He remembered the skirts I wanted from Skin Flicks, so we took a stroll over there.  With the skirt on we traveled from store to store … and that’s when I pulled out my inventory. As he browsed, I started putting on different shirts.  Express stopped me when I got to this top. He’s right, its the one!

We decided to see the newness over at Genesis. That’s when he pointed out the necklace set. Express had no idea I’ve been eying that set since it arrived in her store. With something in the hair from Canimal, my all-time favorite release from her. Yes, I know, I never change the skellyflies colors, I don’t care. They are cute the way they are!

Check out the shoes … they aren’t prim feet! What a relief to see designers still designing shoes … and not harvesting feet for shoes. Love the prim feet shoes but oh so nice to come back to regular ol’ shoes. The earthy wedge sandal was exactly what this outfit called for!

Next Express said he wanted to see freckles. I flipped several skins past him, we liked a few and debated which to use. Then when looking back over the outfit, I saw all my favorite designers. I realized these most of these designers have been with me since the beginning of my blog. This is the perfect opportunity to pull out my old school favorite skin creator, Chai.

I love when Express and I go shopping. I get color, not just black, and I see things I typically wouldn’t in items I want and never really get, like the hair!

*Review* Skin Flicks – Little Black Dress

Oh this is soooo what I’ve been craving … the little black dress.  Mavis McGettigan of Skin Flicks just released her take on the little black dress. She not only did one … but six and a jacket. The jacket I wore as a dress, and still love it.

Some of the dresses come with two option for prims – bling and no bling. Before you cringe hearing the word bling, look closely. Its the tiniest little flecks and don’t flash. Its just a very subtle addition to help break up the black.

So maybe black isn’t your thing. There are several other colors (10 in total) to choose from … I may even pick up the pink set to mix and match. If you see me at Skin Flicks, stop to say hello! See you there!

The Hunt Is On!

Hmm … The VIP Hunt. Do I or don’t I pay the 200L to join in on the hunt. Yup, that’s right, 200L.  The VIP Hunt was marketed as the participants will receive “highest quality exclusives on the grid”.  Also, there is a bonus section with more prizes! With 50 vendors participating, surely it will be a good Hunt.

Yes, I paid my 200L … and now I don’t remember what tipped the scale to get me to join. Perhaps it was a lack of sleep or the early morning hours. Whatever it was, overall I’m pretty well satisfied with the completion of the Hunt.

The Key is the icon that is commonly themed throughout the Hunt. You are looking for these Keys at every location. Some locations have more than one Key.  Some locations are easy to spot, others send you on a quest – totally awesome and so creative!

Using the official blog to snoop out the Keys, the Hunt was cake. Really cute clues, not so hard to see Keys and low lag (if any) – not too bad, right?!  The best part for me was being able the complete the Hunt within a few short hours (with RL interruptions) … and oh by the way, there is a bonus area to pick up more gifts.  Another feel good moment, was this bonus area. I was greeted upon arrival with “Congrats” and “Please come on in”.  What a novel idea – an end location and someone to welcome folks! It was like a true sense of completion.

Now let’s talk about the hunt gifts and bonus gifts.  Keep in mind, I’m picky … and quality is relative to the designer and the Hunt participant.  Out of the 60+ gifts over 40 were tossed. That number includes all but 2 bonus gifts. Yeah I said it. With that being said, some of the items have keys on them or designed around the icon. I don’t want to wear key items, items with keys on them or anything of the such. Hence the picky side of me, but that’s me.

The clothing I ditched was misaligned, unmatched, poorly photoshopped or photosourced and had balant seam issues. Some outfits are just not what the current trend is or my style. The majority wasn’t good quality or just made me go “Wow” and not in the good way.

So this sounds like bashing, its not. Its reality. I’m not naming anyone or citing anything specifically. I do; however, welcome, out of the public eye, anyone to talk to me about the specifics.

As for the Hunt, the wearing of the key necklace – cute idea… but plan your outfit accordingly. The necklace attaches to your chest. This could take off prim clothing. I liked the necklace (not to keep and wear when not hunting) but the idea that if I saw others it was a common “bond”, if you well.  (So sue me I like being connected to people. That’s why I do what I do in RL.)

Feel bad for the guys – they paid 200L for very few gifts. I think ONE vendor actually made the men’s gift transferable. ONE out of how many vendors?!

Yes, I know, the skins offered are well over the 200L Hunt price tag. Yes, I know, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth … yadda yadda. Seriously, look at this as a whole. Its an excellent idea for a hunt. It got me out, I met a few people, saw a few stores I never would have seen … and, omg, enjoyed doing the Hunt since it wasn’t every vendor and their mother in participation.

Did I think my 200L was well used? Yes. Do I think the gifts were of top notch quality? Not so much. Is there a way to judge what is or is not quality? Not sure.

I would *love* to help with the next VIP Hunt. Yup, I’m in full support of the next paid-for-it hunt. I think its a stellar idea.  I would; however, change a few things. I would offer gift teaser pics before the hunt start and offer a prorated rate to the guys or ask for equal amount of gifts for them.

I think I hit on the points needed … and surely many will be upset. I’m ok with that if they are willing to voice their thoughts like I did. Life is good. Debate is good. This is to better the process/experience.
