~Review~ Pixel Mode’s Roxy Blade

Tya sent over her latest release: Roxy Blade in white with color changing pompoms.  One of her last releases, the roller skates, I think I lived in those for about a week or so. Just like those, these are just as fun.  They come with a boot scripted with a skate walk (so damn cute). The color changing hud is cake too. Pick the color, then choose a light/dark range. Can’t get any easier than that!

I searched for the last few days between projects for an ice skating rink. Then it dawned on me. Edloe. Crap Mariner and Edloe’s residents have once again turned the sim into a fun winter scene. Don’t worry the fish are still biting.

Glitterati’s Garage

I’ve been searching for an all black background photobox. Today Glitterati launched their newest product, the Garage. Its a perfect background for yesterday’s SLDD item from FuseMelon.

The Garage has 20 total poses. 10 poses for guys and another 10 for girls. The pose sets can be used at the same time!

Today’s SLDD – Ingenue Kerria ~ Limited Edition Color

Today’s featured item on SLDD is from Ingenue. I go weak in the knees for a well-designed and structured gown. When I saw the ad picture a few days ago when Betty submitted her item for the site, I knew the dress would be mine. I picked it up just a few hours ago and there were about 60 left.

Adding just a few little touches like the long cigarette and large cocktail right, the look is complete. Even the new style from Shag works incredibly well.

Props Make the Picture

Yesterday between working on SLDD and finding things to blog, I found these awesome disco balls from Glitterati. I was going to save them for a post on New Years but things just kinda happened and I created this picture.

I realized not many bloggers use props or set up backgrounds for their photos. Props can add so much more especially when not used in their intended means. Using just a few other things, some of my favs, from my inventory and adding a slight glow, the “stage” was set. I’ll list in the credits not only the outfit but also the elements used to stage the shot.

I did use Photoshop to help give the picture dimension and “life”. Photoshop wasn’t something I had years of training or expertise in but having a 3D modeler for a RL husband and Express inworld helped me tremendously. I even recommend scanning YouTube for awesome tutorials too. Not much was done in Photoshop to create these pics (liquify, lens blur, luminosity, and a gradient tool). {Raw picture seen here}

Windlight settings were another element. With my settings on ultra, high rez snap clicked, and fliddling with the sky, I snapped my camera. Oh, here’s alittle trick that I just learned for WL, keep your sun/moon at 0 and the ambient at .75and all the amazing colors will pop! I never use “lights” in my studio or face lamps. They tend to cast horrible shadows.

~mashup~ Catching Snowflakes

I’m in love with L.Fauna skins. There I said it. I’m even more excited for the upcoming makeups. This one, Winterberry, was worn in this month’s Glance magazine (pages 212-217)  and now here. This skin is still in beta and still just as stunning.

Can you believe, me, the one that so rarely wears a dark lipped makeup, adores this skin. Crazy right? But just look at it… how can you not fall in love with it.

Pair this skin with a few black and white elements from my inventory and I”m ready to catch snowflakes.

It was a closely run race but our panel of 10 SL Designers have voted and Cherie Parker with her portfolio of sumptuously narrative images has been awarded first place. Second place goes to Julie Hastings who continues to wow clients and fans alike with her exquisitely detailed and realistic work. An extremely well deserved third place goes to Barney Roundel whose atmospheric treatment of his shots is fast gaining him an enviable reputation in fashion circles.

The Best Image award goes to AtomicSparkle Skytower for her beautiful “Masquerade de Coeur” image submitted in the Haute Couture category.
