Hair Fair 2011

Hello lovely people!

I’vee finished unpacking and organizing my first round of Hair Fair shopping. This year’s fair has improved tremendously since last year’s blunder. The fair grounds are nicely laid out, easy to navigate despite the feeling of endlessness. I think that feeling is my fault. I was way too excited to get to the fair and shop that I skipped using the maps or list of slurls. Highly recommend being prepared with keeping the official blog open as you explore the fair.

Hair Fair 2011

I was in RL for most of Friday but was kept up-to-date with the new releases pending for the fair through plurk and flickr. As the fair opened for the preview day the negative stuff started. Now if you fall into reading that sorta thing, take it with a grain of salt. There could be truth in it like some of the designers need to update their textures to be less shiny or need ditch the old construction of hair. If the hair isn’t for you, just move on. I know I found new designers that weren’t my style but squirreled away their name in case the need arises in future posts.

The flip side is that you need to give the designers a chance. Some are new to creating hair, hey we all started somewhere, right?! Keep your eye on those folks, they’ll hone the craft soon enough! And others really made some serious progress since last visited. Check them all out, take demos at the very least. Most demos are zero linden as well as the freebie gifts.

Take your time at the fair and visit often if needed. I ran through snagged up packs and demos in about 90 minutes on Friday afternoon. So plan ahead, be patient and you will have all the hair you want. I hope you have a great time at Hair Fair 2011!

  • I think you are so right, Luna! If I don’t like something, I simply don’t use it to blog about. I’m not going to rip designers apart on my blog because I’m 100% positive that they are doing something that I cannot do at all. And, there is always room for improvement no matter who you are.

It made me feel a whole lot better about my photography skills when I was looking at your very first blog posts the other day. I’m really glad that you have left them up and not deleted them. You have come so far since then, and you are an inspiration to me to learn new techniques to better my skill as well. Heck, when I first started your challenge I didn’t even know how to take a high res photo! Now I can do that, work with windlights and know liquify (which is a Godsend)! You were very correct when you said that we all started somewhere; my photos were crap a year ago. Thank you for being a positive role model to so many of us!
